From early-morning bugle calls to after-hours receptions, the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee buzzes with energy when the Legislature is in town.

The Capitol Courtyard, the old Capitol steps, and the 22nd floor observation deck, among other areas, host hands-on displays, themed celebration days and high-visibility gatherings every year during the regular session. It’s often a chance to see where personality meets policy.

Whether it’s military demonstrations, space and transportation showcases, college and university days, Children’s Week festivities or large-scale vehicle and equipment displays, the schedule reads like a civic festival rundown. And they’re all family friendly.

And there’s often a plethora of free food and drink and themed swag to take home. (A handful of ball point pens, anyone?)
