LAS VEGAS (August 21, 2025) – The Nevada Department of Public Safety (NV DPS) and Nevada Rider Motorcycle Safety Program (NV Rider) are seeking instructors as part of its efforts to raise awareness surrounding the everyday dangers faced by motorcyclists on the state’s roadways. Operating a motorcycle requires different skills than driving a car, such as operating front and rear brake controls separately, using a hand clutch and using the handlebars to control lean for turns. Instructors will join a team of passionate motorcyclists who help riders develop these critical skills and share their love for riding with the goal of helping others stay safe on Nevada’s roads.

Candidates who have a safety mindset and no more than two points on their driver’s license are encouraged to apply. As part of the certification process, candidates will receive instructor training developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) to become a nationally certified MSF RiderCoach. Candidates who are accepted into the program will receive the training and curriculum free of charge and is available to individuals aged 21 or older with a valid motorcycle driver’s license.

“Motorcyclist safety starts with education, and we’re looking for riders who want to make a real difference. Instructors help shape a culture of safety on Nevada’s roads and are responsible for leading the next generation of riders,” said NV Rider Program Administrator Justin McDonald. “Our roadways are a shared responsibility, and we need more champions of roadway safety who can help Nevadans make better choices so we can enjoy safer roads in our state.”

Successful candidates will become educators and play a role in shaping responsible riders and reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities through expert training.
