Village of Goshen Police Department was awarded the AAA Community Traffic Safety Silver Award, recognizing the departments traffic safety efforts during 2024. The program acknowledges agencies based on their efforts to improve local traffic safety for all modes of travel.

The Police Department participates in multiple traffic safety initiatives and activities throughout the year such as bicycle and child passenger safety by conducting bicycle rodeos and car seat checks. In 2024, the Village Police also hosted CarFit, a safety program for senior drivers developed by AARP & AAA. The Department also participates in campaigns focusing on pedestrian safety, distracted and impaired driving, as well as seatbelt use. Through outreach and instructional initiatives, the Village of Goshen Police School Resource Officer program coordinates school bus safety, teen driving, AAA Back to School, and AAA Halloween Safety Campaigns.

Officer Cody Hunt was awarded the AAA Traffic Safety Leadership Award. Hunt was recently assigned the Departments Traffic Safety Officer spending the majority of his shift monitoring traffic flow in problem areas and intersections. He is also the agency’s motorcycle instructor, child passenger safety technician, and field sobriety instructor. Hunt has shown dedication to traffic safety through educational outreach by teaching motorcycle safety and making appearances at many of the local law enforcement youth academies. while also making a traffic safety impact through enforcement by leading all Village Police Officers in Orange County for arrests involving impaired driving.
