TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee mom is urging motorists to look twice for motorcycles sharing the road.

Billboards are now up across Tallahassee, including one near the scene of the crash that killed Kris McElhenny 23 years ago this month.

His family teams up with Lamar Advertising each year to put up billboards encouraging drivers to watch out for motorcyclists in traffic.

Kris’ mother, Tina McElhenny, said they hope the billboards encourage drivers to be more aware of motorcyclists on the road.

“We don’t ever forget one second of what has happened. We don’t want no one else to go through what we’ve been going through, and there’s so many families that have been doing this,” she said. “Pay attention, please.”

Kris McElhenny was killed at the intersection of Centerville Road and Capital Circle Northeast – there’s a billboard there as well as on busy stretches of Monroe Street and Apalachee Parkway.
