One man has died in a motorcyclist crash in Bossier Parish. The wreck happened at about 1am Monday morning on Sligo Road near Mayflower Road. State troopers responded to the single vehicle crash.
What Happened in the Wreck
43-year-old Preston Workman of Haughton was driving a 2025 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Sligo Road. Troopers don’t know what happened, but the motorcycle ran across the center line of the roadway and ran across an uneven section of pavement on the shoulder. This caused Workman to lose control of the bike which overturned.
Workman was wearing a helmet, but he suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, who was also wearing a helmet,
sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
State Police say impairment on the part of Workman is unknown; however, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers urge all motorists to make good decisions while operating a motor vehicle. For motorcycle riders, enrolling in an approved safety course can significantly improve both riding skills and awareness on the road. To learn more about available motorcycle safety courses, click this link.
