Emerson Park landscaping work has started with seeding of grass

The City of Grand Junction has started landscaping work at the new Emerson Skate Park, which marks the final step in the completion of this project.

Several areas within the park were hydroseeded this week and since the seeding process is expected to take two to three months for the grass to germinate and become established, people are asked to avoid walking on the grass and stick to designated pedestrian paths throughout the park.

To help protect the growing turf, an orange safety fencing will be installed along these paths to safeguard the newly seeded areas. In addition to turf establishment, landscaping efforts will include planting small shrubs and native plants in rock beds.

Also, on May 19, construction will take place on the seat cap walls surrounding the park. The curing process is expected to take 24 hours. This work may result in limited access to certain areas of the park while the improvements are underway.
