With warmer weather comes the start of the motorcycle season on state roadways.

State motorcycle safety coordinator Jay Bock says the fact that riders in our state are only on the roads for about five months makes the start of the season particularly challenging…

“We don’t have as long of a riding season as other places. So, everybody has to kind of kind of start all over. And it’s difficult to become a good rider. You need to have the training and the experience to be a good rider and not put yourself in a bad spot.”

He says it’s very unfortunate that Minnesota saw a slight increase in motorcycle fatalities last year. There were 74 fatalities in 2024, up from 69 the previous year.
