FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A heartbroken Fort Wayne mother says she is searching for strength after losing her 27-year-old son in a motorcycle crash.
Charles Rainbolt Jr. was killed in a crash on Maplecrest Road on Saturday night.
The news has left his family in shock, and a young child without a father.
“Honestly, it just doesn’t seem real. I’m still expecting him to walk in the door and say, ‘Hi, mommy!’ and sit on my lap”, said his mother, Debbie Rainbolt.
She says the moment she found out is something she’ll never forget.
Debbie describes her son as a family man, someone who lived life with love and purpose.
He was engaged and left behind a 3-year-old son, who Debbie says adored him.
Now, Debbie says she wants her son’s story to serve as a wake-up call. She’s hoping to raise awareness about motorcycle safety and the dangers of speeding.
As Debbie grieves, she says she’s leaning on faith, family, and the community for support.
Debbie created a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and provide support for Charles’s fiancée and their young son.
