CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Loved ones came together to honor Austin Gonzalez, a motorcyclist killed in a crash on Ocean Drive more than two years ago.
Friends, family, and riders gathered for a memorial ride to celebrate Austin on what would have been his birthday.
The gathering was about remembering his life and spreading motorcycle safety awareness.
Austin’s family has been committed to promoting motorcycle safety, placing awareness signs and launching the Ghost Helmet Project, which displays helmets across the city as a tribute to fallen riders.
“The love we get and the support that we get is overwhelming,” said Austin’s father Joe Gonzalez. “His friends and people that don’t know him but know of him have been really supportive, and we really appreciate all that they do for us. And just spreading the awareness, that’s what this is all about, making sure that this doesn’t happen to another family.”
Austin’s memorial ride continues his legacy, one built on love, support, and a push for safer roads for all riders.
