May is National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. In North Carolina, motorcycles represent about 2% of all registered vehicles, but account for about 10% of all fatalities on the state’s roads.

Proper training and safety precautions are the most effective ways to reduce the chances of being involved in a motorcycle crash.

Safety guidelines for motorcyclists include wearing a DOT compliant helmet, making sure you are properly licensed, and obeying all traffic safety laws.

Other drivers should remember to stay alert and watch for motorcyclists, and remember to share the road so we all get home safe!
