Murfreesboro police identified the motorcyclists killed in a Thursday night crash as 24-year-old city resident Blake Raucci.
Officers responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. to the collision involving a motorcycle and a 2016 Ford Fusion at North Rutherford Boulevard and Greenland Avenue, the press release from Murfreesboro police spokesman Larry Flowers said.
“The motorcyclist was pronounced dead by personnel with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services,” the press release said. “The driver of the car was not hurt.”
The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a 2016 Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on North Rutherford Boulevard in the left turn lane, according to the press release.
“That driver attempted to make a left turn on a solid green light, failing to yield the right of way, colliding with the bike,” the press release said. “The rider of a 2024 Kawasaki EX5 was traveling northbound on North Rutherford Boulevard.”
Police withheld motorcyclist’s identity until Monday afternoon after out-of-town relatives were notified, the press release noted.
This is a developing story.
