OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is reminding drivers and riders to prioritize safety as more motorcycles return to the road this spring.
Officials say warmer weather and rising fuel costs may lead to increased motorcycle traffic across the state. With that comes heightened risk, as national data shows motorcyclists face significantly higher fatality rates compared to passenger vehicle occupants.
Troopers emphasize that safety is a shared responsibility. Drivers are urged to check blind spots and give motorcycles space, while riders are encouraged to obey speed limits, wear proper safety gear, and remain alert.
The reminder comes ahead of the state’s Motorcycle Safety Awareness campaign next month.
